It's his Sophiology that likely bars him from considerations for glorification. In other words, he can't be a saint if he holds heretical views, and fully developed Sophiology is that. If it's not fully developed, then it's just another term for the effects of the Incarnation, and thus not necessary to proper Orthodox thinking. His impetus in promoting Sophiology, to counteract the demystification of the Cosmos as a result of the Enlightenment, is laudable, but this can be done without inventing a 4th hypostasis of the Trinity.
Still though, he was an amazing incredible person and can be honored without trying to force sainthood on him.
How is fully developed sophiology heretical, or what are some resources you'd point me to? I just began Bulgakov's "The Bride of the Lamb"—what many consider the pinnacle of sophiology—and did a little background research: it seems that a synod convened to determine if Bulgakov's theology was heretical and they found nothing. The key fact which saves sophiology from developing a fourth hypostasis of the Trinity is that Bulgakov (as I think Florensky would as well, though I'm not positive) insists repeatedly that Sophia is created.
Also, St. Gregory of Nyssa held a questionable view of apokatasis but he remains a canonizes saint of the Church. Canonization as a saint does not hinge only on 'perfect' doctrine, Florensky was a martyr, after all.
So sorry for the super late response, and I'll go ahead and caveat my comments by admitting I'm not at all deep on reading Bulgakov, Soloviev, Florensky, etc.
By "fully developed Sophiology" I mean when it makes Sophia a 4th Hypostasis (even if "it isn't one, but it acts like one" [Bulgakov]), or usurps the role of the Incarnation in the economy of salvation (God's love in Creation, God's Transcendence and Immanence united, the Image of God in Himself, humanity's 'co-imageness' with God).
And true, an occasional error in thought does not bar a saint (especially a martyr!) from being glorified, but if one's whole corpus of thought is dominated by problematic ideas, then that might. It seems to me that this is unfortunately, likely the case with Florensky.
Evagrius of Pontus (incredible and inspired genius) put love as the foundation of Prayer and Theoria as the Pinnacle, there is no "ST" in front of his name. ✔️✍🏼
Many Orthodox Saints place 📖 📿🕯️humility and Self-Knowledge (ex: St John Climacus) 🏔️ ☦️⛪ as the foundations of Prayer, placing LOVE at the Pinnacle!✅
I love Basil’s Kid Bro 📚 ❤️🔥 St Gregory of Nyssa, but I do see how the overly speculative minds of Soloviev, Bulgakov and Florensky get them a little too close to the line, kinda like 🇺🇲 David Bentley Hart 🧠 in our time and Origen, back in the day....
....just this Okie's two-cents. 🙋🏻♂️🤷🏼 [μετάνοια] ❤️🩹
The only Florensky I have read is the English translation of, "Iconostasis" (svs press) and it was worthwhile. Thank you 😌 for keeping his work and memory alive in our time. As a former iconoclast evangel-prot, these concepts reinforcing the Hagia Sophia being revealed and manifest in the experience of beauty is one of the greatest traditions of the Holy ORTHODOX Church. Grace and peace to you Amigo, Christ is Born, Glorify Him! ⛪ ☦️ 📖 🌐 👑 ✍🏼 🔔 ⚓🧭
